Will the USA actually start dialogs in a different manner based on equality of rights and duties with Arabs and Muslims?

  1. Hello Suzan,

I think the size of the US population and economy - make it hard for the United States to see other countries as equal partners.

I think the amount of financial and technical aid the United States gives to other countries also makes it hard for the US to see other countries as equal partners. For example, last year the US gave Egypt $1.5 billion in aid. I don't think Egypt offered anything to the US in return That kind of situation makes it very hard to have an equal conversation because Egypt is in a dependent position rather than an independent position.

I don't think it has anything to do with Arabs or Muslims. I don't think the US doesn't have equal conversations with very many countries. I'm working in Rwanda now, and the US certainly doesn't have an equal relationship with Rwanda. I previously worked in Liberia and Mongolia and the relationship between those countries and the US wasn't equal either.

The US does seem to have more equal relationships with Russia or China - I think because they recognize the population, economy and military power makes them equals.
