  2. I think the US is accustomed to dealing with the USSR/Russia on nuclear issues. While the US and the USSR/Russia always disagree on nuclear weapons they are able to talk and agree on ways to limit or reduce.

Iran appears not to want to talk or compromise on its nuclear program and I think the US see this as very dangerous because it hasn't found another way to relate to Iran.

Maybe this is obvious, but I will go ahead and say it. The US is afraid that Iran will use a nuclear bomb against Israel.

Here's my very un-expert impression. Most of the Muslim world seems as if it would be satisfied with a 2-state solution. Israel seems determined to expand and co-op the Palestinian territories. Iran (or at least, Iran's current leadership) seems determined for Palestine to expand and co-op the Israeli areas.

I think if the Muslim world could stay focused on reaching a 2-state solution through diplomacy, the US would be forced to concede. No one can deny that Israel is expending and that the Palestinians have the moral high ground.
