Your question is based on an assumption that is difficult/impossible to prove: namely that "Jews control the economy of America". If I asked "Why do Arab-Muslims like drinking Dr. Pepper?" you might question some underlying assumptions in my question. The real question, however, is why these assumptions, especially ones printed in media, are not challenged enough by readers.
Philip, you assert that the question is based on an assumption. You also say it is difficult or impossible to prove. The question really has 2 questions. One is: Do Jews Control the Economy of America? For this question, can't we look at American economic data and individual wealth and economic power by religion and arrive at some notion of the accuracy of the claim? I think much of this info is available online and I think we can actually do a decent job of "answering" this question. The second question (if of course the first question is answered; Yes, Jews do control the economy of America.) is, why do Jews control the economy of America? Now the assumption is not an assumption because it has been proven. You stated that the real question is why these assumptions are not challenged enough by readers? Correct me if I am wrong but by asking this question, are you assuming that Jews do NOT control the economy of America? Have you questioned this assumption enough? If you dismiss it out of hand arent you as guilty of assumption as the assumers you are accusing? I think most Americans are not aware of the preponderance of Jews in positions of economic control and possessed of great wealth.
